  • We pack out all of our sanitation waste.

Inclement Weather

  • The Sonoran Desert is infamous for its heat, cold, and sun exposure. Please dress and plan accordingly. The best way to stay cool in the heat is to stay wet, so having a wet bandana on one’s neck is advisable. The best way to stay warm is to bring layers.

  • Our tours operate rain or shine. In the case of extreme weather, such as lightning storms and flooding, Sonoran Rovers Tours and/or our permitting agencies reserve the right to modify, shorten, or cancel any tour to prevent damage to trails or avoid unsafe conditions.

  • Monsoon season is in late summer and early winter - so plan accordingly by bringing a rain jacket. It will be cold at night (hat and warm gear required) and hot in the day. Rainfall is generally very short-lived and may offer the chance for you to see rainbows or waterfalls.

Electronics

  • We recommend to our guests that they switch their phones to roaming mode during the tour to avoid unwelcome charges.

  • We suggest bringing a camera and spare batteries.

Walks and Hiking

  • Most of our tours have optional walking and hiking, with an alternate option to picnic.

  • Hikes are regularly held on rocky terrain, are several miles long, and under conditions of high heat and sun exposure.

  • Close-toed hiking shoes (preferably boots) are required in some places,  due to the sharp, volcanic substrate and abundant thorns.

  • Please bring thick, long smartwool hiking socks for all hikes.

Camping

  • We will have tents or covered cots available for all parties

  • Please bring your own sleeping bag

  • Please bring a personal headlamp & spare batteries.

  • We will have kitchenware but feel free to bring your own camp mug, coozie, and spork if you prefer.
